I’m sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to post this question!
I’m currently supporting an organisation through a rebrand. We have successfully made various changes; however, we have run into an issue with GitHub, and I was wondering whether anyone here has experience or knowledge on this.
With the rebrand from Company A to Company B, it’s essential that we don’t disrupt our URL structure, affecting posts in the repository, etc.
What I wanted to know is:
https://github.com/**CompanyA**/Ecommerce
https://github.com/**CompanyA**/Ecommerce → https://github.com/**CompanyB**/Ecommerce
Another factor I’m concerned about is whether existing threads/posts that mention or include a URL with CompanyA will break after the rebrand to CompanyB. Would those pages result in a 404 error, or will they automatically redirect to the correct pages?
I assume they would become broken links, since there is no custom domain being used and a redirection wouldn’t be possible. Please correct me if I’m wrong?
