Loading service-list view too slow

This one will discuss about the UX on web page loading.
In my scenario, loading service-list view is too slow.
As there is a lot of service's data to fetch?

• portainer-agent: v1.1.2(the latest)
• portainer: v1.17.1(I also tried v1.19.1, more slower than what v1.17.1 brings to me. It's hard to remember the upgrade timeline, but when I found v1.17.1 has been released, then I quickly updated to this one. Also I found v1.19.1 yesterday, then I tried to update to the latest one this afternoon, when v1.19.1 is online, the result is that loading service-list view more than 20s! So, I have to rollback to v1.17.1 and report this problem for both this 2 versions )

Do you have internet speed issues ?
The timing for every download is very high. For example 16.32s for 1MB on /tasks (last screen). Very low TTFB (green part of waterfall) but high download time (blue part).

except my network issue, IMO, service list is just a list, less data should be loaded onetime to speed up the content downloading time, no matter how bad my network is, as I can quickly find the service and jump to the service details view

@xAt0mZ about my network issue, I switched the network which visit the portainer through VPN to public network, then the timing for ever download is very fast, thank you for your tips, it's my fault.

Expected behavior
back to what I said yesterday, maybe this discuss will help us to speed up the content download time if we could simplify the date fetch process or something else.

net1=[office -> VPN -> IDC] VS net2=[office -> public-network -> IDC]
The above tests shows that my VPN network issue need to be checked in one hand, and the content size is a little larger in a slow network environment in the other hand.

even in net2 we can find that 1.8 MB transferred | Finish: 1.08 s, it's a little slow, isn't it?

I tried switching to 1.17.1 now I am seeing below.. Did something change?

I deleted my portainer_agent and portainer service. Re-create it but thus time the image my portainer is portainer/portainer:1.17.1. It came back and I think it's faster as well

We are experiencing this issue as well. Specifically where we have endpoints behind a high latency/low bandwidth network link.

@onemorezero could you give us more details on your setup? Are you using the Portainer agent ?

This is a very vanilla setup i.e. No swarm and no agent running. We have 5 endpoints configured locally and 2 remote endpoints configured over the high latency/low throughput link.

Hi. I updated to portainer 1.19.1 and all the pages are very slow. They need 1 or 2 minutes to load. My previous version was portainer 1.16 and it was working OK.

UPDATE: I could speed up portainer 1.19.1 if I enable caching in my browser. If I disable caching, then portainer 1.19.1 starts to be slow (like several minutes slow).

Perhaps some component/js/font being loaded is slowing down everything else?
