How to do citation in overleaf?

Its pretty simple, you just have to typically use BibTeX or biblatex.
Quick one using BibTeX:

1. Add a .bib file
   Create a new file in Overleaf (e.g., references.bib) and add entries like this:

   @article{lamport1994latex,
     title={LaTeX: A Document Preparation System},
     author={Lamport, Leslie},
     year={1994},
     publisher={Addison-Wesley}
   }

2. Cite in your main .tex file
   In your document, use \cite{lamport1994latex} where you want the citation.

3. Add these lines at the end of your document

   \bibliographystyle{plain}
   \bibliography{references}

4. Compile using PDFLaTeX → BibTeX → PDFLaTeX (twice)
   Overleaf usually handles this for you automatically.

1. Create a .bib file
   Create a separate bibliography file called references.bib, and include your references in BibTeX format. Example:

2. Add citation in your LaTeX file
   Use the \cite{} command to cite a reference from your .bib file:

3. Link your bibliography file
   At the end of your .tex document, add the following lines to generate the bibliography:

\bibliographystyle{plain}   % Other styles: ieee, apa, unsrt, etc.
\bibliography{references}   % Name of your .bib file (without .bib extension)

4. Compile the document
   Overleaf automatically handles the compilation steps (PDFLaTeX → BibTeX → PDFLaTeX ×2) to make citations appear correctly.
