The UFS Community is proud to announce the public release of the UFS Short-Range Weather Application v2.0.0 (SRW App). A news article was published on the NOAA Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC) website on 06/23/2022: https://epic.noaa.gov/short-range-weather-application-srw-2-0-0-released/.
This newly updated weather application is designed for short range (up to two days) regional forecasts located anywhere on the globe. It contains the Common Community Physics Package (CCPP) v6.0.0, version 10.1.0 of the Unified Post Processor (UPP) and version 3.0.0 of the UFS Weather Model. The UFS Community Portal includes a detailed outline of the SRW Application and its components from the first release. This will soon be updated with information about the v2.0.0 release features.
The SRW documentation for the v2.0.0 release has been significantly enhanced, and numerous test cases with all associated data files are now available to the public. The SRW Application v2.0.0 User’s Guide leads users through the steps to download, build, and run this highly portable application on a variety of platforms, from NOAA’s HPC systems and cloud environments to Ubuntu Linux and Mac OS systems. The code is available through the ufs-srweather-app repository on GitHub.
The SRW App results from a collaboration between several entities within the Weather Enterprise (government, industry, and academia), including:
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC)
Developmental Testbed Center (DTC)
Cooperative institutes and universities
