How to make .gitignore as ignorePath?

I'm using Remark lint.

Such configuration doesn't work:

plugins:
  - remark-preset-lint-recommended
  - remark-gfm

settings:
  ignorePath: '.gitignore'

Variations without settings: or with ignore-path also doesn't affect the behavior.

What's wrong?

These settings don‘t go in config files. Config files configure files that are already found.
If you use remark, pass it as a flag: remark --ignore-path .gitignore: https://github.com/unifiedjs/unified-args#--ignore-path-path

Config files configure the tool, not files. 🤔

I can understand the argument for config file path, but not for ignoring.

Can you ignore rules, files or something else in the config file? Yes. So… the file for ignoring can be specified too.

ESLint works the same.
You pass files. Those files are filtered. Then configuration is found for the applicable files. That doesn’t filter yet another time.

Also I don't know why my CI begin to fail after 1 year without changes and remark updates, but… OK.
