Any college mapped as a point appears starting at z10, essentially the city level. However, colleges and universities mapped as areas appear based on its size, somewhere between z10 and z14 but typically later than z10. Since most major colleges are mapped as areas, this leads to the weird result that tiny colleges appear many zoom levels before major universities. Example:
UCLA Extension and other minor institutions appear at z10, while major universities like UCLA and USC don't appear till z13 and z14 respectively. Appears to be due to when the respective features appear in the upstream OMT tiles. I don't think this behavior was present when #1022 was merged, so maybe there was a more recent change to when point amenities appear in the tiles...

This was a bug in onthegomap/planetiler#1118 that excluded points when feature areas were calculated, fixed promptly by onthegomap/planetiler#1132 after being raised on Slack. Now the point colleges do not appear until z14, the previous (and I think desirable) behavior.
Thanks to Mike Barry for the quick fix on the planetiler side!
