Sometimes it can be very useful to reduce the dimensionality of the SSP model in terms of age/metallicity in addition to changing the resolution of the spectra. I have been using a Non-Negative Matrix Factorization method to reduce the dimensionality of the SSPs when fitting kinematics. This could be easily included here.
