Outcast

• Install and runs ok
• Resolution limited to 512x384 without Zenger high resolution patch (much recommended)
• Tips in GoG forums to improve graphic quality, alternate keyboard layouts
• Can't easily exit from credits when leaving game (Alt+F4, wait for popup, Tab, Enter; Sometimes twice)
• PlayOnLinux 4.2.2-dev
  • Tested with Wine 1.4.1
  • Install path Program Files/GOG.com/Outcast/
  • Shortcuts:
    • Manual ["manual.pdf" ]
    • Readme ["readme.txt" ]
    • Outcast ["start.exe" ]
  • Need full screen mouse grab
  • Can be confused when mouse leaves virtual desktop (cannot turn left/right anymore, using mouse or keyboard)
  • Key movements autorepeat
  • Both didn't happen with 1.3.27-rawinput2
  • Works with plain 1.5.13 (rawinput3 patch has been integrated), but the loader round splash window can raise on top and steal focus if you click on it (but it should be underneath game window!). Could be because I'm using virtual desktop, but still it's annoying.
    • Happens with 1.5.13, 1.5.15, 1.5.16, 1.5.17
    • Did not happen with 1.5.18, 1.5.20, 1.5.22, 1.5.28

GOG installer v2

  • Tested with Wine 1.5.18
  • Install path GOG Games/Outcast/
  • Shortcuts:

  • Tested with Wine 1.6, 1.6.1, 1.6-RealTime, 1.7.8, GC_DONT_GC=1: periodic stalls
    • With 1.5.18 too now, so it could just be my environment
    • Could move left-right after alt-tabbing and return, 'til I pressed Alt-F4 that didn't kill the game but fixed the issue. It also seems to have fixed the stalls!
    • Could above have killed the launcher? Could that be automated?
