Nvidia engineers tracked back the "[floating eyeballs issue] (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34052)" down to a [game bug] (https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/773623/linux/character-models-are-sometimes-invisible-in-the-witcher-game/), Wine devs coded a workaround available since (at least) 1.9.11; However since it's a workaround it needs to be activated specifically thru HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D/CheckFloatConstants = "enabled"
