Reducing the number of ages should be considered, as the plus group information and dynamics beyond some ages are unlikely to change (as shown in Figure 14.

A sensitivity was done looking at the plus-group age in the 2019 assessment Figure 80.

  • Recreate this sensitivity once other revisions to the model structure are done (treatment of growth, fleets, etc.).

Considerations of other regional sablefish assessments can also be informative for bounding sensitivity analysis.

NPFMC AK Sablefish, 2023: modeled ages 2-31 with recruitment at age-2
BC management procedures, 2020: modeled ages 2-35
PFMC WC Sablefish, 2023: data age bins 0-50 (0-70 for population bins) with recruitment at age-0
