Elevator mode is where, for a single carriage drive, the motion is continuous with no delay. Ideally, it wouldn't do the single block motion, and just move all the way, but that hasn't happened yet. That method could probably be done similar to translocation with the rendering and movement interpolated.
I've seen references to "elevator mode" in the source code - what is that referring to? @da3dsoul would you know more?
