By utilizing the Windows Subsystem for Linux it's now possible to run Pi-hole on a Windows 10 PC just like any other Windows app.
This is a solution for Windows 10 users that just need a simple ad-blocking solution "on-the-go" that encrypts your DNS queries, without the additional complexity of containers/virtualization.
Why I am making the suggestion
Raising awareness that there's a simpler way to install Pi-hole on Windows without resorting to containers or virtualization
My connection with the software
Pi-hole supporter/enthusiast. I wrote this script to convince Pi-Hole to run in WSL1 on Windows 10. I do not solicit or accept donations - Please contribute to the Pi-hole project if you find this useful.
I will keep the issue up-to-date if something I have said changes or I remember a connection with the software.

Interesting, generally it might be an idea to add a software section about firewalls, both network based and device based. Currently there are only recommendations for Android. Opening an issue

Actually my recommendation was for Pi-hole (a DNS ad-blocker) as opposed to a router/firewall like PFsense.
@DesktopECHO I know, but if it will be added to the website, it might be good to have a section dedicated to all firewalls available for all platform either network or client device based.
Basic Information
Pi-Hole for Windows
Ad-Blocker / DNS Encryption
