The SAMMI project was founded by the MITRE Corporation, with the goal of becoming a partnership with healthcare providers, governmental organizations, and others to help combat the opioid epidemic using data. The current members of the MITRE SAMMI team are:
- Steve Boczenowski: Project Leader and Founder
- Harry Sleeper: Project Visionary
- Tim Taylor: Project Engineer
- Peter Sylvester: Database Engineer
- Anuj Misra: Data Scientist
- Michael O'Keefe: Software Engineer
- George Neyarapally: Clinical Policy Expert
- John Boiney: Social Behavioral Scientist
