Describe the issue

To reproduce:

  1. From a coldboot, insert MCP2, then start OPL.
  2. Run a game. Let MCP2 change VMC.
  3. IGR with nothing in IGR path.
  4. After restarting OPL, repeat step 2.

Expected:
OPL passes GameID to MCP2 to change VMC for booted game.

Result:
MCP2 refuses to change VMC. It does show "Writing..." for a split second after choosing a game in OPL, but it'll keep the prior VMC up after that. It's persistent after every IGR. You must shutdown the PS2 for GameID to work again.

Console model

SCPH-30001

OPL 1.2.0 beta 2194 (a626d9)

MemCard Pro2 FW upgraded to 1.3.0.
From original reported OPL: Issue persists.
with OPL 1.2.0b 2199 [200eaa]: Issue also persists.

EDIT:

Image

Have OPL output the chosen game's serial, letting MCP2 recognize it. As history is being read, this isn't reliable as it's only done after a reboot, just like a vanilla PS2 reading disc after disc.

I don't think this is an OPL bug, I think it is a MemCard Pro 2 bug. I've experienced the same issue when launching games with an alternative launcher on PSBBN. The history file is being written to but sometimes the MemCard just doesn't pick that up until it's been powered off. I think this is something 8BitMods needs to fix with a firmware update.
