Oi, Grandad! v2.2b: User consultation

For the next version of the old codger my goal is to make the UI a bit more user friendly, it will look a little bit like this:

The most significant changes are:

• Voices now have their own dedicated page
• In addition to the existing modulators, there will be several user assignable "macro" modulators.
• An "overview" page will be added. This is similar to the current layout but using the aforementioned macros
• Pitch modulation is completely redone
• A alternative granular mode has been added (this more experimental & glitchy approach is based on oscillator clocked sample playback, similar to Xolotl expanded's goofball user wave mode)
• Improved grain size detection (no more drop outs/crashes when using shorter samples)
• Clocked synced grain size is back
• Simplified the multi-playhead approach. Now it's just static (1 voices) or 4 independently controlled sliders.
• There should be a pretty significant performance improvement

Since OG's been around awhile now, I'd like to open the floor to you guys, especially those who have been using it for sometime. Does this seem like a reasonable direction? Would you miss having every control on a single page? Are there any other features you'd like to see?

hello, I always prefer less clicking one page approach in plugin interfaces
if I may allow a little criticism, the 3d swithes look a bit off from the fully 2d ui

Thanks for the feedback (and sorry for the late response!).

I tend to agree with you. On the other hand, I'd like to strike a balance between this and the visual overload the current ui presents us with. I guess it's pretty confusing for people new to the plugin, also there's not really much room to add additional features as it currently stands..

This is why I propose the overview page, it would have the same sort of layout as the current version, but limited to 8-10 controls per voice. You'd have most of the basic controls (position, pitch, volume), then a set of freely assignable macros.

Good point about the switch, that's been on my to-do list for years.
