A few of us had a long, deep conversation in the PyCon hotel lobby last night about barriers to contribution, particularly relative to responsiveness and mentoring.
One thing that would help the team make a positive shift, and have a lasting effect, is to dedicate one or more passionate (professional) people to coordinating mentorship, mentoring core devs (and triagers, etc.), and connecting people. I'm sure some core dev training would help too.
@Yhg1s, Deb, and I discussed this in detail a little while ago.
Thanks!
