This composite is a variation on JMA's True Color Reproduction for the AHI instrument (Himawari 8 & 9)
It appears that JMA utilize the following for their imagery:
- Both an uncorrected and atmospherically corrected composite for blending at large solar zenith angles
- Separate solar zenith cutoffs
- Linear contrast stretch for brightness adjustment
This composite uses:
- Only one atmospherically corrected composite
- Custom crude stretch to improve processing time
- Atmospheric correction with
aerosol_type: rayleigh_only
It's suggested that a night band be used to blend out the imagery at large solar zenith angles.
