Dismiss notification after clicking the close button

If a notification pops up and we clicks the close button, it will be moved to the notification center. In order to dismiss it, we have to open the notification center and click the close button again. Wouldn't it be better to dismiss it by clicking the close button only once? (You can still move it to the notification center for later by sliding it out)
In a word, I'd like a quick way to dismiss the popped-up notification.

Alternatives:

• Ctrl+Click to dismiss (or other modifiers)
• Add another icon (e.g. a trashcan) that dismisses notification when clicked
