pfSense with 100% packet loss, but does not report as Down but rather Packetloss #189

Hello friends, I have the following scenario:
pfSense 2.7.2
Zabbix Server: 6.0.36

I have a client whose links are constantly going offline, but Zabbix reports that the link is experiencing Packetloss instead of Down, even with 100% packet loss.

When I go to Recent Data, the Gateway Status Raw key returns: OIGW.online,VivoIpFixoGW.down

However, the key that should return link down, due to 100% loss Gateway VivoIpFixoGW Status, is returning: High Packet Loss (3)

Has anyone experienced this and know how to solve it?

2 possibilities come to my mind:

  1. If your Zabbix server is located outside your client network, your pfSense Zabbix proxy can only send data when the connection is degraded, not completely down. When the connection is restored, the data cache arrives at the Zabbix server.
  2. It’s also possible that the issue is related to the Gateway action in pfSense. Check the System > Routing settings to see if “Disable Gateway Monitoring Action” is checked.
