BLPOP (and other blocking operations) and timeouts

I'm trying to use BLPOP but I'm a bit confused about the various timeouts.

I have been experimenting a little bit with different values of the command timeout (specifically set for only BLPOP via a TimeoutSource) and the timeout given as a parameter to the BLPOP operation. My experience this far has been that setting the BLPOP operation timeout to a higher value than the command timeout is not a good idea, it looks like I'm not getting anything popped from the list at all 🤔 Is this in line with expectations, or am I doing something wrong? And I guess that as a BLPOP operation timeout of 0 seems to mean no timeout at all, it's equally bad when combined with a Lettuce command timeout?

Note that commands that timed out may block the connection until either the timeout exceeds or Redis sends a response.

Is this what happens if a BLPOP operation timeout longer than the command timeout is used? And the Redis server can respond with an element between the command timeout having expired and the BLPOP timeout expiring? And that way elements are lost, because no one receives them on the Lettuce side?
