So Oblivion works fine normally on my system without this installer. After running the installer and running the Oblivion option in MO2, the game immediately crashed (or sometimes showed the Bethesda logo for a moment).

After looking in my proton logs I noticed a message along the lines of Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr 0x68008c5, which seems normally to be associated with some file which was unable to be accessed. After playing around with some deletions, I found that I had to delete %steamlibrary%/steamapps/compatdata/22330/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Oblivion for the game to boot up. I think this is something specifically something to do with the Saves folder as deleting the other ini files in Oblivion didn't work.

Note that doing this seemed to delete my steam cloud saves so backup if you try this but this may be incorrect.

I was able to repro this through multiple installs of this script. The game works fine without it.

The only quirk I can think of this could be related to is that it is not on my OS drive but on a second drive. But I don't think that would cause this.

Is this an issue with this script or with my setup?

Some system info if it helps:

Can confirm that fixed the same issue (crashed when launching from MO2 before deletion, runs fined after deletion).

I can confirm also having this issue. After some futzing with deleting the folder and preventing some sort of regeneration that was going on (temporarily disabled writing to the folder, permanently disabled steam cloud saves, unsure if either are important), I managed to get the game running properly. The folder exists again and MO2 launches the game just fine.
