The accelerometer and gyroscope readings will detect the movement. As for your question, the estimated velocity and the position will determine your direction, even though the yaw did not change. |

If a vehicle moves forward, stops and goes backwards, the yaw angle has to change, definitely. The problem with the yaw angle is when the vehicle tracks a perfect straight line since the yaw angle starts being unobservable. |
