[SOLVED] init: Unable to open persistent property directory /data/property errno: 2

Not sure if this is the place, but wanted to put this somewhere in case anyone else encountered this and save them the hours. (Maybe I'm not the only stupid person in the world, who knows.)

Following these instructions:

jefferson home_xxx.swapped -d outdir
mkfs.jffs2 -l -e 0x10000 -r outdir -o home_xxx.final

on an older rpi results in a directory structure of outdir\fs_1. Doing mkfs.jffs2 results in a flash that yields:

init: SERVICE: ueventd
init: Unable to open persistent property directory /data/property errno: 2

and freeze, because it's not actually mounting the /home file system.

Proper command is simply:

mkfs.jffs2 -l -e 0x10000 -r outdir/fs_1 -o home_xxx.final
