Principle 10. Archivists must have a user-driven reason to enhance existing archival description.
In Chapter 1, Levels of Description, "DACS does not attempt to define the proper level of description for any set of archival materials. Archivists should follow the prescriptions of their institutions and apply their own judgment in making such determinations." While Principle 10 states explicitly that "the goal should be to maximize the availability of all collection materials to users." In order to refocus on the needs of users, DACS should include the recommendation for institutions to prioritize minimal processing for the purpose of access as appropriate/in accordance with local practice.
