Feature request: Jumping into existing references

When my document has a reference to another document, the UI looks like this:

I can search for existing ones, and create new ones, but I can't jump into the one I've chosen. I used to be able to do that, and it's a workflow I use a lot. Was this change intentional, or is this feature coming back?
