Some people are susceptible to epileptic seizures or loss of consciousness when exposed to certain flashing lights or light patterns in everyday life. Such people may have a seizure while watching television images or playing certain video games. This may happen even if the person has no medical history of epilepsy or has never had any epileptic seizures. If you or anyone in your family has ever had symptoms related to epilepsy (seizures or loss of consciousness) when exposed to flashing lights, consult your doctor prior to playing. We advise that parents should monitor the use of video games by their children. If you or your child experience any of the following symptoms: dizziness, blurred vision, eye or muscle twitches, loss of consciousness, disorientation, any involuntary movement or convulsion, while playing a video game, IMMEDIATELY discontinue use and consult your doctor.
- Do not stand too close to the screen. Sit a good distance away from the television screen, as far away as the length of the cable allows.
- Preferably play the game on a small television screen.
- Avoid playing if you are tired or have not had much sleep.
- Make sure that the room in which you are playing is well lit.
- Please rest for at least 10 to 15 minutes per hour while playing a video game.
Welcome to VOXELSHOCK. This guide includes quick installation instructions for users familiar with the installation process, and a detailed, step-by-step guide to installing the game. If you experience any difficulty, consult Troubleshooting, page 7. To avoid compatibility or memory problems, please take a moment to confirm that your machine matches the System Requirements (see page 2).
Do not use VOXELSHOCK with Java Runtime Environment or Java Development Kit versions under 17. We cannot guarantee the compatibility of our modpack with antiquated Java versions, and every version after 1.18 requires JRE/JDK version 17, or above. You may encounter errors with using versions above 19, and as such, we (adamantly) advise that you use JDK version 19.0.2, downloadable here, in your preferred operating system flavour.
Note: Before installing any software, run CHKDSK from your DOS directory.
This searches for any lost allocation chains (pieces of files).
If any are found, please run a disk utility to correct these errors on your hard drive.
It’s always a good idea to optimize and de-fragment your drive before installing new software.
- Ensure that you have a launcher capable of installing Forge modpacks.
Launchers with established compatibility are as follows: MultiMC 5, version 0.7.0 or above, or Prism Launcher 6.1 or above. We cannot guarantee the compatibility of VOXELSHOCK on the Curseforge launcher.
- Navigate to the VOXELSHOCK repository.
- Go to the Releases page, and find the latest version of VOXELSHOCK.
- Download one of the two modpack files available. Note: As of (7/17/23), the MultiMC version of the VOXELSHOCK modpack seems to have issues. We recommend that you install the Modrinth version, as an alternative. Functionally, they are the same.
- Import the modpack file into your launcher. (Either drag-and-drop the modpack file into your launcher's menu,
or select Add Instance -> Import from Zip (works with Modrinth .mrpack files), find the VOXELSHOCK modpack file, and select it.
- If necessary, wait for the launcher to download the mods.
- Ensure that you have allocated enough memory for VOXELSHOCK to run. (Refer to System Requirements, on page 2.)
(Alternatively, you can edit the VOXELSHOCK instance itself and change memory settings there.)
- To begin play, open your launcher, select the VOXELSHOCK instance, and select Launch.
