It would help a lot for Modpack developers to be able to configure the amount of slots each backpack gives, to account for the balance of the item in their Modpack's context
Expected Benefits
More configuration options for Modpack developers
Potential Drawbacks
Not any that I can think of. If there are any, I'm happy to discuss them

I finally found a good backpack mod that doesnt add backpacks with 1000 slots, which I consider too OP..
I hope if 'extra' slots are added that it is only done if specifically set to in the config, and not by default.
Besides, if people want a backpack with large storage, there are many other that provide that, having a reasonable small size is what sets this one apart.
For my modpack I was really only looking for setting a smaller size, since I already have other inventory solutions available
But I guess making it bigger would also be nice overall

Configure the backpack slots
[Camping] Configure the backpack slots
Jan 19, 2025
The core issue is that the screen textures are pre-made, not generated during gameplay. So to account for additional slots, we would need to either replace the texture with something less limiting, generate textures during gameplay, or have some form of a scrolling display, or maybe another solution.
I'm not a fan of any of these solutions I've listed, personally.
I might create a few alternative screens, and allow a limited selection for each backpack to be configured by modpack developers.
Something like goodybag="small" small_backpack="smallest"
or something like goodybag="9x3" large_backpack="9x7",
but creating a solution where modpack developers can enter an arbitrary number of slots is a bit more difficult
Currently no capacity for new suggestions.
