Tree tools do not work in Lake Valley #41
Comments
The data structure used to store removed vegetation in Lake Valley has changed. Unless someone creates an atlas of tree locations, it is unlikely that the Pine Valley tree tools can be made to work for Lake Valley. Replanting all trees can be accomplished by running |
Thanks Scott, I've guessed that this might be the problem. Also Lake Valley uses different kinds of trees and boulders, which are treated like trees! |
Will this console command work to restore trees in the pine valley map...correct??. |
can or would you be able to get the tree tool working for pine valley... really hard to place new industries with all the trees in the way and sucks iam not able to replace them ...TIA |
@nomisthenoob the tree tools are for Pine Valley only. While RS is able to read the new tree format, the format itself has changed such that it no longer refers to the location of the tree. Therefore it's not possible to place these objects on a map. The console command I shared is for restoring all vegetation back to defaults in Lake Valley. |
Thank you for getting back to me...iam playing the pine valley map...I've
tried the replanting trees but haven't been able to get it to work just
yet...however now iam getting the message water well not supported...do you
have the time or ambition to update your program...lol

well the problem is that when the game had a bug where you could not cut any trees, well that messed up the save files when opened and saved while that bug was a thing and theres nothing Neo can do about it. You just need to start a new save, thats what i did |
This issue tracks the tree tools not being supported in Lake Valley due to the difference in how cut vegetation is stored in the save files. This issue requires a different effort than what you're asking for here, @nomisthenoob. I recommend that you open a new issue, attach an affected save file, and describe what functionality you would like for RS to support. |
#119 moves the legacy tree tools behind a condition to make it more clear when they should be used, as well as adding a new vegetation tool which can re-plant all vegetation. In the future, it may be possible to add additional vegetation tools, however this will require access to a lookup table for world coordinates by vegetation instance id. |
