If you think it's a good idea, it'd be quite welcome! The easiest way is probably to initiate a transfer to @konklone, and then as an owner I'd initiate a transfer to @unitedstates, and then give you full admin rights to that repo.
So far, nearly all the repos in /unitedstates are CC0 licensed, in part to make it a total commons, and in part to lead gov't by example. If you're interested in re-licensing to CC0, that'd be cool, though not required.
More inanely, would renaming the repo to make unitedstates/web-icons be welcome?
Which reminds me, it might also be relevant what we did with MoC photos over at unitedstates/images (predictable filenames, permalinks via gh-pages).

Totally love the idea, would love for the repo to get more attention.
I think moving to CC0 would be good as part of this. The project is a fork of https://github.com/adamfairhead/webicons by @adamfairhead, which is CC-Attrib. However, looking over the readme for this project, it looks like he only placed the icons under Creative Commons, so we should be okay as I didn't use his icons in this and the CSS overlap is very minimal.
Let me tidy up the readme and transfer over to you. I like the idea of doing something with predictable file names and permalinks - lets put that on the roadmap :)
