Our usual definition is "any modern browser", where "modern browser" is usually taken to mean:
Any version of Chrome (although only the most recent few versions are actually in use, thanks to auto-updating)
Firefox 5 and above (ie: when they started rapidly incrementing their version number, like Chrome)
Safari 5 and above
IE 9 and above
IE8 is a grey area. Our current corporate customers don't use IE8, but we've had Data Services customers in the past year or so who did. It's entirely possible that we'll have corporate customers in the future who will need IE8 support, so we shouldn't make any decisions that will cut IE8 off entirely, unless there's a strong business case for doing so.
Not sure if this needs an open issue and I otherwise can't tell what the state of play is by looking at it. Please re-open and add more details if this is relevant.
In #400 (comment) @zarino says IE8 is required. Fine. What other browsers are required?
