State driven assessment & its result storage - architecture discussion

Hello All,

We are adding the facility to store paper & pen exam scores. This is to track class / school progress. Please refer point B on this link for more details - Link
For this functionality, we wanted to store exams, exam papers, exam paper questions, and each student's marks for the paper.

We already have the functionality to create a worksheet and fetch questions on the basis of QuML schema. So to store exams and questions, should we use worksheet and question schema? or should we create a separate schema?

API workflow if we use worksheet and questions schema

• Store exam name and its date (For example - Semester II November 2022)

• Store this in the worksheet, with a blank question array.

• Store question papers of all subjects and all classes against the exam (For example - Mathematics - Semester II November 2022)
  • Create worksheet,
    • usedFor attribute as "exam"
    • questionSets as above exam worksheet Id
    • visibility as "private"
• Store Questions for exam papers uploaded from admin using CSV
  • Currently, we are not creating or storing questions on Shiksha, we are only fetching questions from multiple sources like Diksha, KhanAcademy, etc. For the exam question paper, we will have store questions added by the admin. For this, we will create a Hasura adapter for questions and store CSV uploaded questions in it.

Doubts or Questions -

• Is it ok if we store exam details in a worksheet with visibility as private?
• For some exam subjects, we don't want to store marks against each question but store them against two parts practical & theory. In this case, should we update the criteria as practical&theory question paper and add marks against it? or should we store it in separate schema?

Thanks for raising this @snehal0904

As discussed - we can utilize question / question set schema itself for adding exam papers. Will need to ensure theory / practical exams can also be added here (essentially as two questions under a question set).
