Ortho4XP builds the base mesh and ground texture using elevation data and orthophoto imagery from external providers that the user can choose. By default, elevation data is provided by Viewfinderspanorama and Bing orthophotos.

The X-Plane scenery system is divided up into thousands of 1x1 “tiles” which can be a base mesh or an overlay.
