Can we make a network of blockchains?

Hello,

I am new to blockchain and still going through the amazing youtube course (I am 3 hours down right now), thank you Patrick!

I got a question while viewing the video (Patrick probably have answered it in the further part of the course, I could not hold my curiosity)

Is it possible to develop a net work of blockchains? One parent chain has child blockchains and the children have their own blockchains?

something like below, Each color (green, blue and orange) represent individual blockchain at each level
