Blank white screen on many videos #946

Version: 23.12.0 (revision 10207) (64-bit)
Using Qt 5.15.2 (compiled with Qt 5.15.2)
Using MPV 0.36.0
using Windows 11

I have noticed that within recent months, more and more videos that I play in SMPlayer the picture doesn't appear, there is just a white screen. This happens apparently randomly, in that some videos of the same file type will play and some will not. I test those videos in VLC Player and they play fine, so SMPLayer is behaving very inconsistently. I don't think it's an issue of missing codecs or corrupt files, so I am not sure what to do to try to fix.

These are for files on my computer, not streaming online video.

Any ideas of what might be going on/how to fix?

I've never seen this problem. Please send the smplayer log (menu View) after this happens.

I noticed personal identifying info in the log, like in folder paths and file names with full names, so I prefer to not post a log

You could replace or remove those file names from the log, I'm only interested to see if there are any errors.

OK I did that. Here you go, and thanks for any insights you can provide. I copied a bunch of vid files from one drive to anotehr and maybe 1/3rd of them are just a blank picture in SM Player but they all play fine in other players (VLC and MPC-HC). No idea what is going on w/ regard to SM Player.

Also SM Player doesn';t play the video on the source drive (the original drive the files are on), so that eliminates any possible issues w/ regard to the copy process. I've noticed that more and more often SM Player just won't play a percentage of videos, just a blank white screen. It can't be due to file type issues b/c it will play say 60% of the files in one folder and not the other 40% but all files are of the same format. A full uninstall and reinstall hasn't changed this.

OK this is odd, so it turns out the Brightness slider in the video equalizer setting is pegged all the way at the maximum value for most files that open. This makes no sense b/c I would have never made that adjustment. Not sure how that happened. I'd like to revert that globally, so that I don't have to keep doing it for each individual file that opens.

Any idea how this happened and more importantly how I can fix it with a single adjustment instead of many many times on a per file basis?

I don't know how that happened.
You can turn off the option "remember settings for all files" in preferences -> general, to use the defaults again.

OK I will try that. I have tried opening the equalizer for a file that is this way, choosing Reset and then choosing Set as default values thinking that would reset it for all vid files but that doesn't seem to be happening. I don't want to be having to make this manual selection for every single file
