This issue involves Groundhog being capable of assisting developers in answering a number of (potentially tough to answer) questions:

  • How are active are project forks, on average? What measures of activity can we use? Number of issues? Number of commits? Number of added/removed/modified lines of code? All of the above?
  • Are there forks that grow up to become full-fledged projects? How can we know that a project IS a full-fledged project? A group of developers that differs from the original project? Not being merged? Receiving commits that differ from the ones in the original project?
  • How often are forks merged back? How much activity goes on before they are merged?
  • For how long are they active? When does activity usually stops, if it stops?

Hey guys, I found the data about forks contribution that I had mentioned last meeting. A lot of interesting stuff in there.
