When the MCP Client receives a tool change notification from the MCP Server, does it automatically update the client's tool list?

I tested this by deleting a tool on the MCP Server. The MCP Client then re-initiated a tool/list request and retrieved the updated tool list. However, when I asked the chat client for the currently available tools, it still returned the old list from before the deletion.

How can I make the MCP Client automatically update its tool list after receiving the notification?
