Use of "+" in an URL has always been source of confusion.
It's not clear from the documentation of this extension how a user should interpret this:
GET /search?sortby=+properties.created
Is this equivalent to
GET /search?sortby=%2Bproperties.created
…or…
GET /search?sortby=%20properties.created
Whatever is the answer, I think it would be better to make it more explicit in the README.
