Digits look very small and far from horizontal rules in fractions

Despite digits being small in fractions, the fractions themselves occupy significant vertical space so much so that one must use a baselinestretch like 1.25 to avoid unevenness of baselines in a paragraph as soon as one includes things such as $\frac23$. Tested with LaTeX2e and \usepackage{stix2} and 12pt class option.

I understand this may read as some personal taste.
