The element <address> is specified as
"[a] string value representing an unstructured address written as a standard street, city, state address, and/or as a postal code."
(https://developers.google.com/kml/documentation/kmlreference#address)
The Geo-Browser at geobrowser.de.dariah.eu names the points as "unknown" if the <placemark> do not have an child element <address>.
The manual describes the usage of <address> as "place name", which is not as specified by OGC. A place name like "Foo's Bar" dont have to be an official address.

In other words, labels should be fetched from <name> instead. This would be the most suitable element according to the KML specification.
