Server hook to replace lang="en" #12244

Trying to work on a multi-lingual app but for some reason, I always get <html lang="en"> returned

I have this server hook in place

import type { Handle } from '@sveltejs/kit';

export const handle: Handle = async ({ event, resolve }) => {
	let lang = 'en'; // default language
	const path = event.url.pathname;
	console.log(path);

	// Set the language based on the specific paths

	if (path.startsWith('/en')) {
		lang = 'en';
	} else if (path.startsWith('/es')) {
		lang = 'es';
	} else if (path.startsWith('/de')) {
		lang = 'de';
		console.log('deutch ist the language');
	}

	// Transform the HTML to replace the %lang% placeholder with the determined language
	const response = await resolve(event, {
		transformPageChunk: ({ html }) => html.replace('%lang%', lang)
	});

	return response;
};

no dice, always "en"

I figured it out, it was because the template did not have "%lang%" in it. Dumb one...
