It's been a while since an update, and I've been having trouble getting Houston to work with the newer version of KSP.

Any other ground control mods I should check out?

There was a similar question asked on the Telemachus page. It boiled down to "no, but its slow with other things happening".

I'll try and find it again to make sure my facts are right, but they shouldn't be dead.
