can't connect with usb serial

if i try to connect with usb serial on either pc or phone, i get a message saying "Error, No USB device detected". android studio detects it just fine and i tried changing the USB settings to USB tethering, but that didn't fix it.
im using a samsung galaxy s24

What system are you running on pc? Try to set USB connection to charging only. Close the android app from background. If on Windows, close any adb servers, including android studio. If it launches correctly, the phone will prompt you to enter accessory mode and open the app.
