Great tutorial. There's a step in here that should be modified. You have "nano nano /etc/postfix/main.cf" it should read "nano /etc/postfix/main.cf"

I had backup notifications set, but I much prefer this centralized approach, especially as the relay email's outbox acts as a sort-of historical log.

This is a perfect stop-gap solution while I spend more time configuring my Zabbix triggers for Prox & Ceph and get a webhook setup.

Great tutorial (once again), thanks! Now my Proxmox AND my TrueNAS are sending Emails.

Should you ever have the time: Do you know of a way to utilize the Twilio-API to send Notifications? This way you could even recieve a SMS and not "just" an Email. Have this configured in my PHPServermonitor-Application which I currently preffere over Uptime-Cuma for exactly this feature ;-)

Am using this for some of the Webservices, I operate for my clients and here I want to get "instant" notifications if something goes down. Have set this up to utilize the Twilio SMS API which probably also could be triggered with a CURL call.

You may be able to avoid Twilio altogether by checking with your carrier to get email to SMS. For example Verizon is [phone number]@vtext.com. If your phone number was 202-222-2332 then you would put [email protected] in these steps as the email and it will text you the alert instead. It's possible it will cut off after 140 characters, but it will be enough to notify you. I do this with my iPhone and then set shortcuts to trigger if I receive one of these notifications as an extra precaution.

UPDATE: Vodafone (my ISP) canceled this service a couple of years ago... but then I thought: Why not go even deeper with self hosted solutions? Think I will try this on my Proxmox. CN give an update if it worked. Maybe we can even use this a containerized Service inside TrueNAS ;-)

This is not working anymore, i get this error in my sending mailbox:
550 5.6.0 CAT.InvalidContent.Exception: DataSourceOperationException, proxyAddress: prefix not supported

I redid the entire process this month and got the test emails working. Full backup will run on 1st of every month to know the truth. (Don’t judge the frequency of backup);-)

Was wondering if you had any ideas on adding a login notification? Would be looking to add notifications for both the GUI and SSH. I have looked around but not sure I'm finding the correct steps. Was wondering if you have added this yourself and have any tips or suggestions. Thank you.
