The Staff of Attunement is a handheld multitool used for manipulating blocks in this mod.
Binding
The Staff of Attunement is used to bind Cognitium-consuming blocks to a nearby Obelisk. As Cognitium-consuming blocks don't have an internal fluid container of their own, this is required for their operation as you cannot deliver Cognitium to them with pipes.
Shift-right-click an Obelisk with the Staff of Attunement in order to save its location to the staff. Afterwards, shift-right-click the target block to bind it to the saved obelisk. This binding can be removed by shift-right clicking the block again. The saved obelisk can be cleared from the staff by right-clicking in air.
The maximum binding range is 48 blocks. However, long-range wireless transfer of XP is planned in the future.
Querying
Blocks can also be right-clicked with the Staff of Attunement to gain some information. Cognitium-consuming blocks will display the location of the Obelisk that they are bound to, whilst other blocks will display some useful information about their current state.
Rotation
Certain blocks, such as the accelerators, can be rotated by right-clicking them with the Staff of Attunement.
Toggling Behavior
Other blocks may have their redstone sensitivity, activity, or other behaviors toggled on or off by shift-right-clicking them with the Staff of Attunement.
Cognitive tools give you +1 extra entity and block reach. They also have the same attack damage and mining speed as diamond tools. However, they have the same mining level as iron tools (meaning you can't collect obsidian with them), and about half the durability of diamond tools.
These are crafted by smithing iron tools with Cognitive Alloy with an Astute Assembly as a template.
Forgotten dust is a byproduct left behind after Bibliophages have finished consuming a bookshelf. As of now it has no use, except as fuel in a furnace. However, you might not want to throw all of it out just yet as there are uses planned for it in the future.
