Cognition is a magic / tech mod available for Minecraft 1.18.2, 1.19.2 and 1.20.1. Prior to release v2.0.0, this mod used to be known as "Experience Obelisk", and added a single block of the same name to the Minecraft. This mod has since been reworked to add more blocks and items apart from the Obelisk, and the end goal is a full-fledged mod focusing on the storage, transport, and manipulation of player XP for all sorts of exciting stuff.
Cognition requires geckolib 3 for 1.18.2 and 1.19.2 versions, and geckolib 4 for 1.20.1. You may also want to install Curios API; this is an optional dependency that allows you to wear items from this mod in Curios slots.
📌 For backward compatibility, the mod id remains "experienceobelisk", which is to say, should you need to obtain the IDs for anything in the game, they will be in the format "experienceobelisk:item_or_block_id".
📌 The config file is named "experienceobelisk-common.toml" and can be found in the config folder of your modpack.
Please note that this wiki assumes you have JEI or some other recipe viewer installed. Crafting recipes will not be provided for blocks or items added by the mod.
Q: Any plans for a fabric port?
A: I would like to support fabric, but the current priority for me now is adding content to the mod. If a fabric port were to come, it would not be in the near future.
Q: When will the mod be released for version 1.x.x?
A: I aim to offer support for at least one version from each of the three latest major Minecraft updates. This is currently 1.20.1, 1.19.2, and 1.18.2. If a version has not been supported yet it is either because I haven't had time to work on it, or because the player base for that particular version just isn't there. I will not backport or maintain older versions.
As you know, the minecraft experience system is non-linear, and levels take more and more XP to fill up the higher you go. As such, to make things simple, the dispeller and all upcoming XP-consuming blocks will have costs measured in points (unless otherwise mentioned).
To make things more intuitive for the player, the base level cost is also shown. This is the amount of levels you would have if you started at 0 experience levels, and gained that prescribed amount of points. For instance, 1395 XP would be equivalent to 30 base levels. Unlike regular costs in vanilla minecraft like in the enchanting table or anvil, base level costs are absolute and do not scale with however much XP is on your person. Something with a 30 base level cost would cost you 1395 XP regardless of whether you have 50 levels or a 100 levels in your XP bar.
The mod and wiki are still a work in progress; more is to come soon! For updates on the progress of the mod, or if you just wanna hang out and chat, join the official Terrarium discord!
