Alternative weapons (beam weapon, railgun, homing missiles)
Ammo (?)
Buffs (shield, hull strength)
Spawn allies
Health pick-ups
Maybe fuel. I want fuel use in the game eventually, but it's a question of whether or not this works at the arcade shooter stage. I'd prefer not to leave the player stranded and waiting for an enemy to randomly drop fuel for them... but we could allow for fuel to gradually replenish over time (on-board refinery) with power-up fuel drops that refill it faster.
We might separate this list into "resource top-ups" and "improvement power-ups"... where resource top-ups are things like health, fuel and ammo nodes, and the improvements are things like new weapons, buffs and allies.
Consider always dropping fuel, health and ammo resupplies, and having other power-ups drop more randomly.
Big question... Do different weapons share an ammo type despite their different cool-downs? It's an idea that needs some balancing. Perhaps they consume more ammo dependent on their strength/cool-down rate.
