[PROPOSAL] - Newsletter and Blog Integration

Describe your proposal

creating our own blog and newsletter. blog being through our own domain, our data! relying less on external providers!

email newsletter will be sent through action network which also has extra features incorporated and is community focused instead of being a marketing tool!

Why is this proposal important?

We were using a platform that doesn't align with our values and started looking for other platforms doing similar services in the space!

we kept running into barriers, for ex. high price, lack of features ((account manager limits)) --- which is why building our own blog and then having our email subscription managed through Action Network ((low cost, community focused, many beneficial features)) would be helpful to move towards owning our own data!

Who will benefit from this proposal?

the community as a whole! :

• torontojs => scalability, our own data, within house
• community => ability to share more content from community members ((ie. blog columns))
  • having url links to promo blog posts, making it more shareable on all channels ((ie. Linkedin, Slack, Instagram etc.))

When will this happen?

Previously newsletters were being sent out biweekly, we have now decided to a monthly schedule for both blog and newsletter! This will allow for time for content collection, creation of both, reviewing etc., and being mindful of burnout! :)

What platform/location will the proposal need?

The blog is currently being built! We have looked at a few templates using astro! We have chosen the starlight theme as the starting point!

Action Network brings low cost, community focus, subscription management, email template formatting for sending out emails!
