Passing value from 'upgrade' to 'open' handler

Is there a way to do something like this:

upgrade: (res, req, context) => {
userId = req.getFromCookiesToken();
if(userId) {
// Upgrade to Websocket
}

open: (ws) => {
ws.uid = userId; // Passed from upgrade handler. <--- Can this be done?
}
