There are some items with many authors e.g. https://lindat.mff.cuni.cz/repository/xmlui/handle/11234/1-1699, when such items are displayed in a list like in most viewed items on homepage it really looks awkward. Specially, in item-view page the list of authors are displayed twice because of refbox.
In refbox we should use first author et. al. notation if there are more than two authors, because for citations no one need a half page text for one link.
On web pages we should use a show more link lets say after 10 authors.

citation styles (CSL) immediately jump to my mind, but I wasn't very satisfied with the experience offered by citeproc-java (see #567 and the related issue).
But agreed 70 authors look odd...so the show more link sounds reasonable, but how do you imagine the show more? another page? popup? just expand to the current version?
Updated the refbox "style" (#602). Now it shows at most 3 authors + et al.
Discussed this with @stranak a bit. On the home page (most viewed / what's new) we are already shortening the descriptions there are max 2 lines and dots, so maybe we could do it likewise for the authors (ie. just dots, or clickable dots).
Then there are search results. There's only title, publiser + authors in search results. I was bit surprised there is no description, but anyway records like UD take too much space, too.
