• open Visual Studio Code
• create new markdown file

Step 1: fetch origin from spec-lumber repository in GitHub Desktop

1. Open GitHub Desktop
2. Set "Current Repository" to "spec-lumber"
3. click "fetch origin"

Step 2: open Visual Studio Code

1. open GitHub Desktop and click "Open in Visual Studio Code." This will open the spec-lumber repository in Visual Studio Code

Step 3: create new markdown file

1. navigate to the "_series" folder in the left-hand menu of Visual Studio Code

2. open the "_series" folder

3. right-click on a current markdown file in the "_series" folder and click on "copy"

4. hit CTRL + V on your keyboard. A copy of that file should appear in the "_series" folder

5. right-click on the copy file and select "rename" and rename the file to the title of the series
6. edit the information in the file

7. be sure to add your new series to the Harvester Tag Library and Categories Google sheet!
